A 25 yard strike from Scott Mulholland and goals from Richard Dimmock and new boy Ebenezer Masade fired Thamesmead Town in to the 1st Qualifying Round of the F.A. Cup, by defeating Ryman League Whitstable Town 3-1.
Thamesmead dominated the first half an hour, but paid the price for not converting many efforts on goal when Josh Maine fired the visitors ahead on 35 minutes.
Giving the ball away too easily at times in the first half, Mead became more organised after the break, controlling the game and pushing for an equaliser. Once again, Bradley Killick impressed on the wing making the running to the byline and providing teasing crosses on several occasions. However, it was midfielder Scott Mulholland who made the Mead’s pressure count by firing home the equaliser from 25 yards in to the top left corner of the Whitstable net on 63 minutes.
A couple of minutes later, Whitstable were denied an equaliser when Chris Conneally was at full stretch to deny a shot from the edge of the six yard box.
From then on Mead continued to pressure and the hard working Curtis Williams was once again unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, with a couple of attempts going wide.
It was striker Richard Dimmock who fired Mead in to the lead on 68 minutes. James Brown pulled the ball back to Dimmock in the middle of the area who had time to turn and fire home low.
The win was sealed in style on the 88th minute when new boy on the block Ebenezer Masade was one on one with Fewell in the Whitstable goal. Jinking to the keepers left, Masade delicately curled the ball past Fewell to seal a well crafted victory and a home tie against Ryman Premier League, Carshalton Athletic.
