Mixed fortunes
In the past ten days we have played three games and have seen mixed fortunes in those games. It started with the FA cup match against Carshalton and from all the reports I have heard we were probably unlucky not to come away with a draw. So our FA Cup run ended a little earlier than we would have hoped. We followed this up with a trip to Lewisham Borough for another cup game, this time in the London FA Senior Cup. This type of game can always be the proverbial “banana skin” and for the first hour we struggled to play any type of decent football with only a solitary goal to show for our efforts. Manager Keith obviously thought that enough was enough and he made three substitutions and the game turned, with us winning comfortably in the end. This means that we will now meet our opponents of last Saturday in the next round, which leads me on to that game. It started fairly evenly for the first twenty minutes or so with both sides having periods of good play and at half time we went in 2-1 up. Well I don’t know what the boys drunk during the break, but it lead to a breath taking second half performance, with us destroying Beckenham. We cut through their defence with ease our football flowed with superb support play all round. It was a joy to watch. It is obvious that we are a good side and that we will always be hard to beat, but if we continue playing like this we will all have a lot to look forward to for the rest of the season.
