Excellent keeping shuts out Mead

Enfield Town 2 Thamesmead Town 0

Thamesmead could consider themselves unfortunate to suffer a 2-0 defeat away to Enfield Town on Saturday.

Thanks to a man of the match performance by Enfield keeper Rob Blackthorne, who shut Thamesmead out time and again, the home side capitalised on the shut out as Ben hannond struck a powerful shot to provide the lead halfway through the first half.

Enfield added their second after the break when Stuart Blackburne headed the ball goalboud from a shot rebounded off of the cross bar.

Mead remain third in the league and have another tough game on Saturday, at home to fellow play-off hopefuls, Great Wakering Rovers.

Maldon madden Mead, inflicting heavy defeat

Thamesmaed Town 1-5 Maldon Town

Saturday was a day to forget as the club suffered the heaviest defeat of the season, losing 5-1 to lowly Maldon Town.

In a poor defensive display in the first half, Thamesmead were two goals down early on and went in to the break disasterously 4-0 down.

Lee Barnett pulled a goal back for the Mead from the restart. The goal could not kickstart the Mead, leaking another goal to lose 5-1.

Mead must bounce back away to Leyton on Tuesday and Enfield on Saturday in order to keep play-off hopes alive.
